This specialty trains senior engineering and technical personnel who are provided with strong mechanical design and manufacturing knowledge of basic theory, master the advanced design and manufacturing methods, train for mechanical engineers, engage in the design and manufacture, scientific and technological development, applied research, operation management, manage and sail in the field of mechanical engineering and automation. The graduates can work in the fields of machinery, vehicle, transport, light petroleum and chemical industry etc on mechanical design and manufacturing, also work on teaching, scientific research and administration business in university, scientific research institutions and state organs. This specialty has the level 1 discipline of mechanical engineering master’s award.
2) Main courses
Basic theoretical knowledge include higher mathematics, university physics, mechanical drawing, engineering mechanics, mechanical principle, mechanical design, electrical and electronics technology, engineering material and microcomputer principle; Professional theory include tolerance technology, control engineering, testing technology, material molding technology, manufacturing technique foundation. The manufacturing equipment design, industrial robot, electromechanical integration technology, hydraulic and pneumatic, electric drive control, numerical control technology, automated manufacturing systems, computer information processing, modern design method, mechanical industry, enterprise management marketing and other relevant and broadened knowledge form the knowledge structure of graduates.

Personnel training goal: Train applied senior engineering and technical talents who have all around development of moral, intellectual, physical, master the basic theory, knowledge and skills of mechanical engineering, electronic engineering, automatic control engineering, obtain the train of mechanical engineer quality and skills, engage in design and manufacturing, scientific and technological development, applied research, operation managemen, sales management and other aspects of advanced engineering and technical professional in the field of mechanical engineering and automation.
Professional development goal: Taking the market economy as the guidance, considering the characteristics of enterprises among the Yangtze River Delta, undergo professional development road with local characteristics, and strive to become a major with distinctive characteristics and superiority.
Teachering staff construction goal: to make the teachers with senior professional titles more than 70%; teachers with a doctorate or master's degree above 75%; full-time teachers under the age of 45 reach 50%.
Course construction goal: strive to have one key construction course in school level, one fine courses construction project in school level. According to the development requirements of equipment manufacturing industry, to determine the main courses, and put forward specific requirements to the main courses which closely to major, finding out the inner relation between the curriculum content, optimizing related course content. Divide the basis courses and professional courses into different curriculum modules according to the content, establish curriculum module, integrate teaching contents and experiment according to the course module, formulate teaching syllabus according to the requirements of major and students, organize course teaching, deepening the reform of teaching content, connect the knowledge points organic, avoid repetition. Establish course group and launch a new round of teaching building by 2014 December
Text book construction goal: Strive to publish 1-2 the national planning textbook, write experiment guidebook, perfect the course notes, develop a number of multimedia teaching courseware, and strive to have one or more textbook construction achievements win the achievement award of school level.
